I have just discovered the server monitoring service at mon.itor.us and of cause I had to try it out. Although I have only been using it for about 30min, the total “package” seems quite nice. The website used to manage your sites / tests is done in ajax which almost never fails to impress also the provide notification through email, IM and phone – although I don’t intend to subscribe to the phone bit, it is a really nice option. Another nice feature, which I haven’t tried out yet is that they allow you to write specialized test to match your service exactly – cant wait to try that out.
the service still seems to be working nicely, the have added a small feature (called MyWidget) allowing you to brag about your servers (or services) uptime or performance. Its simply a small java script which is generated for you to add to your website. Although there exists a plugin for Wordpress, I have restricted my self to adding the default script to my University website.
